Sudoku should be very straightforward - taking a very holistic approach, the first target cells should be those with the most neighbours (neighbours being filled cells in the same row, column or 3x3 square)
A first pass will get you many completed cells on an easy Sudoku, and possibly one or two on a hard one.
Another thing to remember is pairing - if in a single row, column ro 3x3 square you have two cells with the same two possibilities (or 3 with 3) then those possibilities are ruled out for the rest of the row, column or square.
You'll find after a wee while you'll get bored though as Sudoku ends up just solving itself.
Go for Kakuro or the Times' 'Killer', they appear to have a longer lifespan before becoming totally automatic.
