Heh. I read that as "Starburst Yawn". I was wondering how they were going to fit fruity taffy into that.

To me, it looks like it went as planned.

AC-130 Targeting Video. From other sources (don't remember where I read it), this is a night attack in Afghanistan.

In this targeting video the AC-130 crew observes people planting what they believe is a road-side bomb in Iraq. Also seems to be at night using IR imaging.

The moral of the story seems to be that you should not move after you somehow manage to narrowly avoid being blown to bits.

Those two links are the same event. One mentions the AC-130 as a helicopter... perhaps this is from Apache instead?

The links go to different movies for me. It's possible that the second one isn't an AC-130, I don't know. The AC-130 is not a helicopter, so it is contradictory.

Bad clicking on my part. Sorry.

I just saw some AH-64 (Apache) footage and it's quite different. Both of your links are likely AC-130s. Having that many crew involved on the radio is good indicator too. I was just amazed at how steady the camera is for a plane flying in a circle. However one link obviously shows a clrcling motion, the other does not.

This thread is incomplete without the standard two Steve Ballmer videos.

Steve Ballmer is a business bigwig at Microsoft. He's been there since virtually the beginning. He seems to be the insane one. Anyway, the speech, if you can call it that, was made at one of those conferences that nobody goes to except the people for whom Microsoft is a religion.

He is the Microsoft CEO. According to the Wikipedia article linked to above:

Quote:
Steve Ballmer has been known to be very passionate in expressing his enthusiasm. Once, his vocal cords required surgery after he screamed "Windows, Windows, Windows" continuously at a meeting in Japan in 1991.

And people say Linux users are weird!

Fox on a Trampoline (YouTube feed).

Fox on a Trampoline (Google Video feed).

Everyone who's seen this has reported that they've died of The Cute. The video is leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

Does anyone have the good high quality version of that set-up Rainbow episode? I think Andy had it? If someone could post a link it would be appreciated

Phew, I suppose I've always got a "chicken factory" job out there for me if I don't make it in software.

I hope he doesn't sing to those chickens, that would definitely be cruel and unusual punishment.

EDIT: Apple's new commercials are up on their site. The "Mac" character is played by Justin Long (Dodgeball, Wating and TV's Ed). I have no idea who plays the "PC" character, but I wish Apple would have gone with Stephen Root (TV's NewsRadio, Dodgeball and dozens of other movie and TV appearances, including Office Space).

Dude, awesome. I didn't know he'd gotten that gig. I've met the guy. And his buddy Jonathan Coulton. Two of my favorite people right there. Wow.

Those Russians need to stop surfacing their roads with Teflon.

Seriously, that's weird. Few of them seemed to be travelling very fast; they just all of a sudden started careening wildly. The articulated bus was particularly odd.

Yeah, they've been playing on TV for a little while now. I could go on about how smug and ineffective this ad campaign is to me and how I almost tend to resent it, but I don't want to hijack the thread, so I'll leave it at that.

The ones I've seen on TV are the most ineffective ones. The remaining ones on the web site are much funnier.
