Folks

We are now taking nominations for the empeg Outstanding Contribution award, to recognise those folks who have contributed their time, expertise and effort to improve the empeg experience for all of us. To avoid various edge cases we have lifted the restriction that nominees cannot have been employed or contracted by empeg. You can nominate anyone you wish, but please focus on the key achievement of having made an outstanding contribution to the empeg community.

We'll vote and find the winner during the Empeg Owners Meet in Cambridge this weekend. As for whether or not he or she will be present to collect their prize in person, we'll have to wait and see!

Please email your nominations to rvoisey@gmail.com or PM me here. Please include a very short explaination for your nomination - just a sentance or two will do. I will collate them and post the complete list on Friday. The result will be posted shortly after the meet on Saturday (or in real time if someone has the appropriate cellular connection) and the winner will be awarded a trophy and a serious amount of empeg geek kudos!

Was Mark Lord ever contracted by Empeg?

Can you post the winners of the previous awards? This is assuming that a person cannot win twice.

Nope, not as far as I'm aware. However it's a moot point anyway as we've lifted that restriction.

This is the first time we've run this - it replaces the Distance Travelled award.

Darn, just when I was in for a chance on that one . And I've got to say I'm a bit confused as to how you can "relax the restrictions" on an award that's never been awarded before...

The restrictions were documented on the meet web page. I hereby relax them. Easy!

Rob

PS Since you're not actually coming to the daytime event you wouldn't have qualified for distance travelled anyway!

Are we allowed to lobby for our choices like if I wanted to lobby for Tony Fabris?

Well, I haven't made my nominations, yet, so I'm still... uh... able to be persuaded. *wink*wink*

I haven't posted here practically at all but have many a night read the BBS board for help & things to add to my player. Tough choice for me as there are 2. Tony for help & Mark for programming & help w/that to be sure.

I'd like to vote for Tony Fabris. While his contributions of the Logo Edit (which let average PC users use Hijack) and the FAQ have helped the community a ton, I remember him being the main personality during those "formitive years" that really made empeg.comms.net feel like a home. I probably havn't used my empeg in about 5 weeks, but it's that sense of home that makes me still visit the BBS once a day. If it wasn't for him, many other people wouldn't have stuck around to offer their contributions. Heck, before the FAQ (as a forum section) even existed, HE was the FAQ answering all silly and newbie questions for anyone that came along. I tip my hat to him!

Brad

This isn't to take away from anyone else that qualifies (and believe me, the list could be much longer than the one being voted on), I just attribute Tony with helping a lot of other people do good too. If that makes sense...

Did Hugo not qualify or something?

I am so very flattered, you guys, but seriously, come on, nothing I've done can possibly hold a candle to some of the other nominees.

Heh.

Seriously, though, thanks so much. I really do enjoy being a part of this little community.

Rob Schofield won. Rob V's grand garden party is starting to wind down. I've taken about 400 photos so far. Too bad internet access costs £15 per day at the hotel. It's not even wireless.

Dude, you posted that at 1.30am. The party was hardly starting to wind down when I left at 4.15am...
