Is anyone seriously thinking of delaying or cancelling their order from this notice? We all know it will come out eventually, and given Empeg's track record it will be exceptional in the first implementation and perfect soon after. Just trying to get an idea on commitment. ____________________________Murray

Although it's a bummer, It's not going to slow down my order. I miss my empeg too much! Besides, the empeg is already great without voice recognition. And I'm sure it won't be too long before it's added.
Is anyone seriously thinking of delaying or cancelling their order from this notice?

Voice recognition as a tool has been relegated to mostly toy status. It's not a required feature, and I don't mind the empeg folks deprioritizing it a bit. If it works well, then it will be outstanding. But if it doesn't, then it's not going to break my heart either. A nice rotary knob interface will do it for me!

Voice recognition was the primary reason for me moving to this version of the empeg, so this is a bit depressing. I would rather it be available for the hard-core users in Alpha form at least....

I already own a Mark 1 and I'm not planning on upgrading to a Mark 2 right away. For those of you on the list who don't yet have a Mark 1, I have this to say:
Don't get discouraged by the delay in the release of Voice Recognition. Get your Mark 2 without hesitation.
Reasons:
1) Everything that makes the Empeg truly great will still be there. You have no idea how cool it is to have your entire CD collection with you all the time. It's amazingly cool to listen to your whole collection in shuffle mode. The visuals, the playlists, the display... all the other features will still be there and they'll be great.
2) The Empeg guys have a great track record for supporting the software. If they say it'll be available for download, then you can count on it. And remember that us Mark 1 users have been using their beta software successfully all this time- if they offer a download, even if it's called a "beta", it'll still be great.

OK, I'll take the bait.. reasons for not upgrading straightaway?
Personally, I will be ASAP and then selling the mk1.
Cheers,
Paul.

First and foremost, I love the Mark 1 and don't have an immediate need to change it. There's also the small matter of the fact that I got mine second-hand, and the original owner will be exercising his discount, so I would have to pay full price for an upgrade to the Mark 2. Finally, the new features available in the Mark 2 aren't high on my priority list.
My only real desire to own a Mark 2 would be for the new face and rotary knob. I'm going to wait until Empeg offers that as a add-on upgrade to the Mark 1 units, and see how much it ends up costing. Depending on how much I could sell the Mark 1 for, it may or may not be cheaper to sell/buy than to add on a new face.

Fair points, especially with the non-immediate inclusion of the voice stuff. I forgot that you got yours second hand - given how vocal you are, I kinda thought that it might have been a freebie! Personally, I think that I'll still go for it - even just for the better radio reception and rotary volume. Cheers, Paul. Paul Haigh, 6GB, Blue Reg: 4120 - Serial 00254

I was disappointed to learn that the voice recognition feature had been delayed. However, since I don't even have a Mark I (I'm 8700+ in the queue) I won't be cancelling my order for the Mark II.
I'll just have to look at it (temporarily, at least) as a limited capability Mark II (MarkII-SX?) or maybe a Mark I on steroids...

It was the little things that made me want the Mk2, Voice Recognition just put me over the top. The handle, the tray connector (and abilities that brings), better FM (in theory), *ETHERNET* (the second most important thing), the redesigned front, grounding issues reworked...etc.
