I have two DirecTiVo R10's. One that I've been using for a while that was given to me for free, and another that I just purchased on ebay "as is" for $15.

When I got it, I figured out why it was only $15...the modem appears to be broken. It also won't do anything useful until it calls home. I figured it was a S2 TiVo, so I'd just use the network. I bought a Linksys USB200M and plugged it in. No love.

After looking online, it appears as if the R10 has the USB ports disabled and it can't be hacked to enable them without swapping the prom chip, which I don't really have the equipment to do.

I was wondering...since I have one working R10, can I just swap the hard disks and dial in with the working player?

Thanks,

John

I doubt the account info is on the drive.

I think you're right Glenn. Last time I upgraded the hard drive in my S1 standalone I used an Instantcake CD which wouldn't have any account info. It just worked after plugging it in, so you should be good to just swap the drive.
