What is the latest Mk2 Player-Software ? 3.00alpha11 ??? Is there any chance for further updates ?
3.00 brings nice features. But very unstable. - Slow menu scrolling. - Track-Info scrolling sticking - changing Playlist may cause hanging (Reboot needed) May a RAM-Upgrade fix the listed problems ?
And 2.01 final is stable, but in the Radio deactivating of AF doesn't work, so the reciever changes the Frequency permanetly. This is realy disgusting.

Latest is v3.00-alpha11. No chance of any further updates.
Use v2.00 instead of v2.01-final unless you have the memory upgrade board fitted.

Why should i use 2.00 instead 2.01 ??
I have a Mk2a 2.01 worked fine, but the AF-Feature is buggy.
Why is development freezed ? Will empeg go OpenSource ?
There should be enough "freaks" to finish v3 to final state.

Development is frozen because all the employees are now working at others companies. It will never be open source, as all the rights to the player software were sold when the company was sold, therefore, all rights are now with an external company.
Again, the software is now the property of an external company, the developers that no longer work there have no right to use the original source, regardless of how talented they are. There is still development ongoing on software that USES the original player software, but does not need to modify the core functionality.

Dude - read the FAQ, then come back if you have more questions. I think you will find all the answers you are looking for there, as they have all been asked a million times before...

I've also just tightened up the wording on a couple of the "basics" FAQ entries that hadn't been touched since back when Rio was still around. It should be a bit more clear about the player's status now.

Mr.SuperCute ... This entry in the FAQs is >NEW<. I can't check that out every day. Last time i checked for new Player-Software was some months ago. And on the official site are no infos about that.

The entry in the FAQ wasn't new, it's just marked with a little "new" icon because I made a small edit yesterday. I just tightened up the language on a couple of items. It all still says the same things it always did, I just clarified a couple of the sentences and fixed a paragraph (previously unnoticed) that had gotten badly mangled by a hasty cut and paste several months ago. I frequently do that when questions posted on the BBS spur me to go re-read FAQ entries to make sure they cover the topic. Nothing wrong with posting the question on the BBS, too, though, so rock on.
