Yes.

Though it's not as much a slot as an empty space on a plate...
Just about any 2.5" drive less than, IIRC, 19mm high for the MkII,
shouldn't have any problem fitting the empty space on the plate.

Do check out the FAQ and visit the sites linked within it.

I thought it was 12.5mm but 17mm at a pinch. Right / wrong?

Hmmmm... I quoted the FAQ. To be honest the figures that first popped
into my head were 12.5mm for the MkI and 14mm for the MkII.
If the FAQ is wrong it should be adjusted soonest...

The drive specifically asked about will however work, as it's only 12.5mm high

If it were wrong, I would agree. Is it wrong?

For the empeg Mark 1, the drive must be no taller than 14 millimeters.
For the empeg Mark 2 and the Rio Car, the drive must be no taller than 19.5 millimeters.

Is it wrong?

Have no idea...

I could measure on my MkI, but I wouldn't know how much headroom above
the disk that is required anyway...

Guess this is one the guys at empeg will have to answer.

I consulted with Rob, Mike and Hugo when I wrote the FAQ, and the 19.5mm number is straight from one of them (don't remember who now). So who's right?

I bet on guys@empeg. They designed it, after all...

I haven't opened up my Mk2 but maybe there is 19mm total clearence, the drive should be 17mm max to allow for vibration.

just a thought

Yeah, but I also wrote the content on Riohome

I think there is probably some confusion between conservative "official" figures and practical "BBS" figures. It is also the case that the Mk.1, Mk.2 and Mk2A all have different amounts of clearance. The best person to settle this is probably Hugo!
