Does anyone know the name of the following mind-power board game:

It used square tiles with a letter written in each of the four sides. You had to arrange the tiles so all the letters on touching sides matched.

I've attached a picture of what I remember a piece to look like.

Just curious, is all.

It sounds like one of those common sliding tile games with letters instead of a picture. Is there more to it than that? "Board game" makes it seem like more...

I remember Triominoes. That comes close to matching what you're talking about, though triangles instead of squares and numbers instead of letters.

Edit: Seems they made Quadominoes for a while, too, which comes even closer to matching your description.

Good finds. I had checked them, but when I see your closer Quadominoes picture, that may have been it. I just thought the corners were connected via diagonal lines.

Makes me wonder, is there more than one solution?

Well, if I keep cleaning up the house, I'm bound to find it eventually.

There are probably a lot of variations on the game. I vaguely remember something like that but the pieces also had some raised plastic lines on it which quadrisected the game piece.

My Guess is that it was Tetravex. That's certainly the one that comes to MY mind.

Mine too, but I think that FireFox was talking about a BOARD game that did the same thing as the TetraVex computer game.

Ah, TetraVex looks like it. Maybe it was a computer version of the game that I remember. The Microsoft logo doesn't look familiar, so it was probably a knock off.

Since physical pieces would have only one solution, it would HAVE to be software to generate many repeat plays.

So, what was your search method for finding that? After all, search technique is the most important skill these days.
