The reason I ask is that I simply cannot use JEmplode. It is slow to a point of being unuseable, and most of the time has to be closed through Windows Task Manager because it becomes unresponsive. Even when it does open, each click, or movement takes litterally minutes to complete. Just changing from one folder to another is about a 2 minute process.

I have currently somewhere around 28,000 songs and I suspect that's the problem. Has anyone else run into this, or is there a solution?

I like to use JEmplode to sync my Empeg (via JEmplodes download function) to my office PC.

How much RAM on your PC? Which version of the Java runtime engine?

Today I opened JEmplode and attempted to use the download feature to extract some stuff to my HD. After about 8-10 minutes I finally got to the folder and was able to right click, select download and select a destination. As soon as it started downloading it stopped and just went back idle. No message about how many files were dL'd or skipped, nothing.

I'm currently sitting with about 24,000 and it is very smooth. It isn't quite as quick as emplode, but that is often the java way - easily faster than my MS Office, though, so I'm happy with it. I think my PC I have it hooked to is a dual core AMD 3.4GHz with 4Gb RAM or thereabouts...

Hi All,

Today, I screwed the pooch and LOST all my photos and music from my NAS device. I'm now done throwing up, and want to start downloading my music off of my empeg.

I'm having the same problem as bodybag had above. jemplode is slow as hell.

Any ideas of what I might be able to do to figure out why???

I can't download even one album it is taking so long!

- TIA
- Jon

How many FIDs on your player, Jon?

The best suggestion I have, is to increase the amounts of stack and heap memory for java on the java command line.

Cheers

Oh, and be sure to PAUSE THE PLAYER software while downloading -- 2X speedup (or better)!

I'm (right now) seeing about 14 seconds for a 4.4 Mbyte track download.

Hi All,

I figured out the problem. I had MULTIPLE, like 6 or 7 installs of Java on my PC. I installed all of the old ones, and now the speed has returned to JEmplode! Dunno why or how the old versions were hosing me, but its good to have JEmplode back!

Yeah, the Java update system on PCs is atrocious.

Gee, I feel deprived. I only had four installs on my computer. Now there's just the one.

Thanks for the tip.
