Quoting from 9to5mac where I found it:
Quote:
Amazon.com offers 1,290 individual MP3 song downloads for free. Notable artists include Jars of Clay, Tori Amos, Los Straitjackets, The Streets, and many other artists you may or may not have heard of. Amazon.com MP3 Downloader is required.

The jazz selection isn't very exciting, although there is an "Amazon Comedy Sampler" album, gratis, which includes a nice riff of Craig Furguson ripping on Sean Connery.

There are pages in their listings where I don't recognize a single artist. The ideal would just be to download the whole list, import into iTunes or your favorite music manager, sort by artist and then delete what you don't want.

Or thematically, if you can list by genre, pull up all the Christmas music and make a huge mixed Christmas album. I don't generally collect loose tracks, but I can make an exception for a Christmas mix.

It appears to let you individually download tracks without installing the Amazon MP3 Downloader utility. However it doesn't let you download anything if you're not in the US frown

Amazon is pretty good with their MP3 deals. For a while I was following their MP3 store's Twitter feed, which turned out to be the ONLY worthwhile use I had for Twitter. They let you know about free tracks and album deals. A couple weeks ago I picked up an album for $2.99.

*edit*
I have since stopped following them on Twitter (and everyone else, for that matter). I have it on good authority that there might be a Zune w/Zune Pass in my future smile

Has no-one written a scraper, yet?
