  • Tuner

  • Ability to 'insert' a song to play after current song

  • API so that programmers would have an easier time making plugins

  • Shuffle/Unshuffle/append that didn't pause the playback

  • Subset Searches

  • Ability to stop Tony from dangling a carrot in front of us

Is this too much to ask for? This are almost exactly the same list of items that I wished for over a year ago. Where are these features? Oh yeah, they're in 1.1. One of the things that I used to love about my Empeg was the fact that the software was constantly getting updated.. Where is 1.1???

You'll get the tuner before 1.1.

The player plug-in API isn't coming in 1.1.

The others, you'll get in 1.1.

Blah blah blah 1.1 yada yada 1.1 mumble mumble 1.1 1.1 1.1 ...

Yes cross fading would be awesome. Is it possible to run 2 decoders in parallel for with the arm decoder?

Possible, yes - the empeg has enough power to do it... However, it's probably not that easy to program - at this point I'd settle for one song fading out/another fading in afterwards:)

I think we may be doing some work on multiple decoders at the moment for another product (entirely different context, don't bother guessing!) so I guess we'll find out pretty soon what's possible.

This brings up an old "they'll never actually do it, but it sure would be cool" wishlist item of mine:

It would be cool to have multiple encodings of the same track stored in the empeg where you could then do A/B tests between them to figure out which encoding you prefer. Run the decoders in parallel and flip back and forth seamlessely between them.

The player plug-in API isn't coming in 1.1.

Wasn't this what Toby from Prolux was working on for the past X months? (Insert arbitratrary number for X).

I was really looking forward to being able to develop my own visualizations. The API wouldn't really even have to be "pretty" per se... if we even had a little documentation as to how the current plugin system works it might help. (Unless they are hardcoded in, which they probably are).

Is this even a feature that is being looked at to be implemented now?

I was always kinda hoping that similar displays to the Pioneer Dolphins, Rotating City / Planets would be available. 1.1 by any chance? Or is there some kind of Copyright issue? Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.

The hope is that eventually the Empeg software will support an API so that users could write plugins (semilar to the winamp plugins..)

The Sony Stalk. Apparently, it just plugs in.
