The Chilean earthquake this morning, generated a frenzy among the US newscasters. CNN setup a death watch on the islands of Hawaii, where geologists had sounded the tsunami alert, sending coastal people up into the heights.

The alert was the proper call, and Hawaiians all reacted properly, but CNN was really beating the drum for all it was worth.

Well, when you run a few 24 hour "news" channels, you have to find some way to sell ads. Might as well rile people up into a frenzy to keep them tuned in.

It's one reason I stopped paying attention to CNN, and similar organizations about a decade ago. I want news, not talking heads and hype meant to help bring in lucrative ads for Viagra or whatever.
