tman carpal tunnel Registered: 24/12/2001 Posts: 5528	Not sure why OSX doesn't recognise that an app has been uninstall or replaced but it may be down to how well behaved the actual app is. Rebuild the LaunchServices database to fix it. I don't do it very regularly as I don't really use my Mac but lsregister command fixes it.

One of the links on that page lead to an Apple page that suggested deleting com.apple.LaunchServices.plist from $home/Library/Preferences Except that didn't provide an immediate result either. Likewise reboot didn't seem to make a difference. Then I checked the Open With list again and the clutter was gone. I'm happy it's fixed but puzzled about the delay, and uncertain which operation actually did the cleanup. _________________________ Glenn
