Let's try this one more time:
July 28th (a Saturday) 1pm, Northern Virginia area.
Fair Oaks Mall: There is a decent size unused parking near the corner formed by 66 and 50. It is outside the mall's ring road, in site of Hecht's and Lord & Taylor.
If you need more details, email me at sheetzam@earthlink.net
If you can't make it, but would like to, let me know and perhaps we can work out an alternate time.
I guaruntee there will be at least two cars there :)

As I recall, someone in the area had a Sony stick remote for sale, which I still want to buy. If you're there, I'll be happy to take it off your hands.

And I'll be happy to give it to you! Just $35, the price on Crutchfield (minus shipping).

That sounds good to me, too. As far as I know I'll be here that day, but plans seem to change daily.

So yes, that sounds like a blast.

By the way, I noticed on the registry that there was an S2000 in McLean (where I live). Who owns that? Please come to the meet!

I might be able to make it. Not that anyone wants to see my plain vanilla install....

Hey! Squid! how's it going? I don't think you've posted here since you did your install. You never told me how the guys at Sound Solutions did. What did you think?

(of course, I can ask you this on the 28th, too)

Hey, DiGNAN17. Yeah, unfortunately not too long after that install the company I was with started going down the tubes, was bought by another sucky company, and finally I bailed ship! So I have been quietly working, increasing my MP3 collection, etc.

The install was great. There was only one problem and that was they had to cut part of my car's trim around the EMPEG so it would slide all the way back in. It still looks nice, though. Other than that, it is great. I would have posted pics but I have scratches (still not sure how they got there but they were there before the install) on the dash around the EMPEG and it looks bad when a pic is taken.

I can not live without my EMPEG. I always have it with me and refuse to leave it in the car when I leave it. I plug it in at work and listen all day. If I could get ethernet working on my home system it would be perfect (but Roger is helping me look at that issue).

Hope to see you on the 28th if I can make it.

Neat, I went to Sound Solutions too for the parts to install my empeg (I did it myself). I showed one of the guys who worked there (over a year ago) the empeg and he was truly impressed by it.

Small world.

I had our Mk2 installed by Carspa. They were skeptical of it at first, but by the time they were done, they seemed quite impressed. Now if only they had gotten the install exactly right...

Well they did say it was cool and a few of the customers there also checked it out. I think one was a Redskin football player.

Although I think I was slightly insulted when the guy said "Yeah we have installed them in cars from a Corvette to a Tracker." Now, does that mean my car ranks below all the others they have installed them in (I think DiGNAN's was the only other one)? Probably!! :) That is what happens when your wife gets the big truck for "groceries."

Haha, yeah, they haven't actually installed them in many vehicles, but they've done well with those installs!

The corvette was actually their first empeg! They put a Mk1 in that about 6 months before they did mine, and I think i was their first Mk2.

One thing I'll say for them, they're not condecending about the player. They understood how important this was, and were just amazed that I had my entire CD collection (almost- need another drive) on this one stereo.

I think the only downside was that the guy I usually deal with (Chris), kept pronouncing it like "E-empeg"

Well, by the looks of this thread, it appears there will be 4 people there... hmmm. Guess we should have asked Rob for a limited newsletter. I think he said once that he was able to do that... Oh well, it should be interesting never the less.

It may just be 3 as I am a bit iffy at the moment. Due to medical reasons I have to re-home my dogs and they are having an adoption day at a pet store in Sterling. Starts at 11am so depending on how things go, etc. I may or may not be there.
