Has anyone got any advice/ideas about how I can go about broadcasting the empeg meet in two weeks' time?

Any ideas appreciated as it will allow more people to "attend".

You could broadcast it using uStream, either from a laptop or even from something like an iPhone.

Well, this is the whole point: even if you aren't there, you can be if we broadcast it. It is being set up now, will keep you posted. It was Tom's idea (Drakino), and it means people will also be able to Skype into the event and say hello during the day.

I would but I've no delusions of being cool It sounds like an amazing event though by what Rob has been posting!

Like Trevor said, I've been reading up on the scheduled events and I'm insanely jealous that I can't be there. Does anyone know of insanely cheap plane tickets from DC to the meet (or someplace I could get a ride from someone)?

I've been to Cambridge and met the empeg guys, so at least I got that in. Still, I've only met about 6 empeg board people, and only one of them (Rob R) has posted in the last 4-5 years or so (and he rarely posts). I guess I have an effect...

I'd love to video chat if I can't make it. Do we have to have awful Skype loaded? Is there some alternative? Video GChat, perhaps? I'd like to keep Skype's long fingers out of my OS...

Errrr.... not sure. I use skype (old versions) and haven't really thought of much else. There is no reason why you can't chat in to the computer we will use with another package, if you point me at it. Tom and Hugo have used to to connect to us at previous meets, though.

Since there may be multiple people wanting to just watch the events, I've set up a UStream user for the event. Anyone attending want to take ownership of running it during the Saturday formal meet? Outside of that event, I figure the credentials can just be handed over to whomever, and they can stream miscellaneous pieces of the other events from their phone.

iPhone/iPod touch owners will want this app to watch or stream.

Android phone users (with 2.1 or higher) will want this app.

Gutted I can't make it, but hoping to be there in spirit, and through the wonders of technology.
