Emplode disk space reporting is buggy

After a few nasty crashes with Beta 8A (I've since upgraded) Emplode is reporting that my unit has only 1147 of 5624 mb available with all playlists deleted. Obviously the mp3s uploaded before one (or during each) of the crashes still occupy space on the unit and are hiding from Emplode.
My question is this: Is this problem only fixable via Linux? Cause if so thats a major bummer. For reasons that will go unmentioned I was forced to delete my Linux drive two weeks back. Reinstalling will be a major pain :( I am open to a complete disk wipe if it will solve this problem and if it can be done within the feeble confines of windoze.
I'm holding out hope I can get this problem resolved before my New Years road trip to Vegas.

If you have the developer image installed, you should be able to connect a terminal to the player using an emulator like HyperTerminal, although there are much better emulators.

Well here's the whole darn thing...I'm a little worried about line 52, but honestly I'm stumbling around in the dark here. I’ve tried various minor tweaks like deleting the contents of var, even fdisking the whole shebang. No luck. Emplode still only reports about a gig and a half out of 6 as available. I'll keep scouring the boards for clues but I could really use a little handholding at this point :)
Edit: I exported my database out of curiosity and got a LONG list of "tunes". Below is a sample. These seem to be the culprits, now how do i delete them?

If you really want to blank the entire disk, you need to get to a shell, erase the contents of /empeg/var *and* /empeg/fids, remount read-only, sync a few times, exit the shell (restarts the player) then connect with the pc software again.
However, your tunes have most likely been put in the unattached items playlist. Does this appear for you in emplode?

Hugo,
No, according to the export file all playlists are empty and the Emplode screen is blank (see my last post for more details). They are listed as type "tune" in no particular playlist. Deleting them I believe will free up the lost disk space, but as I mentioned in the opening access to a Linux shell is a pretty remote possibility at this point. If you haven't already please take a look at my last post and see if any of the info there illuminates the situation.

Thought I'd mention - if your trip to Vegas is for CES then we'll be there, in the Digital Music Pavillion. Booth 6623 from memory.

FWIW, I had the same problem, really quite identical, and my songs don't show up in the unattached list either. In fact, I can no longer get an unattached list (I tried to force it ;-) and I'm out about 2 gigabytes.
Interestingly enough, I notice that when I do a search (what's that button I hit on the remote? Always get there accidentally, end up being asked for a PIN, hit enter, and up comes a list of songs) I can see all the tunes that I lost that are now occupying the missing 2 gigabytes, but I don't know how to get to them to delete them. They're not on any playlist, I swear.
I second the motion: some handholding would be nice here. I can get to the shell on the developer image via the serial port, but I don't have access to a linux box (other than the empeg, of course ;-)

I think the solution here is to fix the bugs in the empeg software so that these tunes appear in the "unattached" playlist. That way, you (a) don't lose the tunes and (b) the existing software should sort it out.
Search can be got to by pressing "direct ok" on the remote. One press - pin, two - year, three - search by title, four - search by artist, five - search by genre.

I'm going to Vegas for New Years, too. It's a shame I'm coming home on the 4th, and the CES starts on the 7th; I would have liked to meet the Empeg team.

I've modified emplode to export the contents of playlists to CSV in addition to the current output as a debugging aid for solving this problem.
If you'd like to email support@empeg.com I can send you a copy.
