Holy... That is fantastic. I agree with Tom, it's amazing the things people are doing with the Kinect. I'm glad MS didn't clamp down on that like I expected them to do. It's fascinating what people have come up with.

Ben Heckendorn is probably kicking himself for not doing a show about this project...

Did I miss something in the translation from Japanese? I only saw a remote controlled trash can using a wireless Sony controller.

I did watch the vid. I see someone throwing stuff into the air and someone else controlling the trash can to catch those things. It's still damned cool, but I don't see a Kinect used in the build.

I think the vid showed (at 2:03) a brief glimpse of the Kinect mounted on the wall. There's no man behind the curtain controlling the trashcan at the end. It's all automated.

Even if it is faked, I still want a trash can that will catch items tossed its way.
