Hi all,

I'm looking for 3 small applications (for windows).

1) The first would be a program than can rotate a movie file in a simple fashion, like windows photo viewer can do with photos. I need this especially for small movies clips that got shot with a mobile phone or other portable device. A lot of these movie clips end up "the wrong way around". It would be nice to be able to rotate these in an equally simple fashion as is possible with a photo.

2) I would like to find a small program that can resize a batch of JPGs to a fixed size. eg. resize 100 jpgs all to 200x200 pixels with one push of the button.

3) Is there a tool like the windows cutting tool that can cut out 'screenshot' images of a pre-defined fixed size? Eg: set it to 200x200 pixels? I would like to use this especially to screengrab the album art that is shown on Spotify in order to be able to integrate these images into my own mp3 files.

Oh yeah, it would be nice if this could be done with free programs. laugh

Thanks all!

1) I'm not sure if this exists in the same way it does for JPEGs. Most programs will just add a metadata flag of "orientation" to the image and change it, instead of changing the actual photo. Video players I don't believe have this concept, so the video would need to be reencoded.

2) I believe http://www.irfanview.com Irfanview has a pretty good batch process. I had this on every Windows machine I used prior to my Mac switch.

3) Looks like Irfanview can help there too: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-take-a-screenshot-batch-process-images-irfanview/

I've looked into the video rotate issue and while some players add a flag to play it rotated, they don't actually rotate the source file nor is that flag standard, so it will only work with that player.

I don't really mind if this means the video has to be re-encoded. This only means it'll take some more time, but my pc is powerful enough so this shouldn't be too bad. If someone could suggest a program that could do this, by encoding or otherwise, I'd be very grateful.

Edit: I think I'll give this a try tonight when I get home.

The portrait cell phone video is something that needs to stop. I hate that.

Anyway, I don't have a specific recommendation, but I would offer this site as a great place for this kind of query. Even typing "rotate video" into their search box yields some promising results.

Imagemagik

Kind of arcane command line but the convert command with a series of options will get it done.
