Greetings!

I am getting synchronization timeouts when writing the configuration to the player. It appears to be waiting for the empeg player to restart, but (with the large disks) it takes longer to complete than emplode's timeout value. Sync logs available on request. Thanks!

Is this the first software upgrade you applied since formatting those 48-gig drives? Perhaps there's something wrong with the partitions?

Greetings!

No. I had tried experimenting with a few kernel hacks, and reloaded developer 1.03 a few times. Also, keep in mind that a large drive implies a large database. I think it is the database load that is timing out.

I believe this is a documented bug.. if it's the one I'm thinking of, we can reproduce it about 6% of the time using an automated tool. Please send those logs and a copy of your bug report to Roger (roger@empeg.com).

Thanks

Greetings!

The email is below. I sent in a copy of the log file and a csv of the database. Thanks!

Oh, for what it's worth: I did a manual fsck on both drives. They came back clean.

Greetings!

This is a report and log file for what I posted on the BBS.

Basically, I am running 2.00-b3-developer, no add-ons loaded. I
have 2 x 48GB hard drives, with a database of approximately 13,000
items. During sync, I continually error out at the "Writing player
configuration" phase. It appears to time out while waiting for the
player to reset. An error code of 0x8004003e is generated.

Logging the sync, it appears that a timeout threshold is passed
while waiting for the player to reset. Given the size of the disks
and database, this timeout appears to be too small.

Attached is the log file (Rob asked me to send it along). This
log is for a start of emplode and an immediate sync (no data is
changed). Also attached is a copy of my database, if that will help.

If you have any questions, or would like any more information,
please let me know. I can be reached at either email address. For
fastest results, send to both. Thanks!

Update:

Now that I am in the office, I did the sync over ethernet. Worked fine.

I am getting the same problem as you reported, Mk2, twin 32gig IBM disks, about 80% full. Tried over Serial and USB. Will try Ethernet tonight as you suggest.
