How about an exception of forcing info mode, if the blank visual is selected? The times this would come in handy is when i fire up the empeg remotely, and there's no way to see the display anyway, but the wish to prevent screen burn-in.

It seems reasonable that Blank and Static (and perhaps the analogue clock) could be excepted from the rule about not starting up in a Visuals mode.

From discussion on these boards, there's a lot of suggestions about the handling of info/visual/mixed modes; IWBNI this was considered as part of a review of all this stuff.
