When I have a playlist for instance

a
b
c
d
e

And I'm playing song "b" and I search for another tune "f" and "insert" in the playlist, I get:
a
b
f
c
d
e

Which is correct. But when I again search for a tune "g" and insert it while playing song "b", I end up with

a
b
f
g
c
d
e

Which is not what I wanted... I would wish the "g" to be inserted immediately following the one I was playing...

Following a semi-flamewar on the alpha testers' mailing list, the mode you require is likely to get implemented in a forthcoming 2.0 release (it'll get called Insert, and the current Insert behaviour will get renamed to Queue).

Yeah, the war even included a turncoat at one point.

Me too. In fact, I was the one that started the "semi-flamewar on the alpha testers' mailing list" that Peter refers to. :-)

Just in case you haven't played with this enough to understand exactly what is going on... When you insert something into a playlist (either a song or another playlist) the next insertion you make goes at the end of the previously inserted item(s), not at the end of the currently playing song.

Dan Zimmerman and myself had an uphill battle to convince the guys@empeg to change this... then Tony reversed himself and threw in with Dan and I, and the empeg crew relented. I believe they still think we're wrong, but they gave in just to shut us up.

I cherish my small victories, and take them where I can find them!

I agree, but it will be nice to have the new one too. Don't know if I'll use it often though. The current one seems perfectly logical to me.

Just wait until you start inserting playlists instead of songs. Then when you go to insert a song 'cause your friend really wants to hear it -- it doesn't play until after the previously inserted playlist has finished. Who wants to wait hours to hear an inserted song?

Wow, I agree with the functionality you pressed to get. In fact I think anyone who thinks different should be rounded up and tortured. Mercilessly.

Bruno

Well, maybe not the torture but, but I agree it's a lot more intuitive to get things done as you've suggested.

Dunno about "wrong": I for one liked the idea of your new insert mode -- I just didn't fancy losing the old insert mode. So I believe we're going to get both. Some idea of the nature of the alpha list can be gleaned by outsiders from the fact that most of the flame-war was over which of the two should be called "insert"...

IMNSHO, this new mode is best called insert. The other is more of an append or queue, especially the second time you use it. :)

Well I for one am very pleased they selected the current functionality for inclusion first. I would have been a bit perplexed if they had chosen the new 'Insert' instead. I'm not saying that I'll never use it, just not as much as the current one. I generally want to listen to them in the same order as I picked them. Still everyone will be happy when both of them are in there .
