Not retaining info on shutdown

Someone wanna explain to me why my Empeg is not retaining info on shutdown anymore? E.g. I'm playing a song, and I shut off the car. When I start it back up, the memory of what playlist, song, and point in the song I was on is not brought back up. This happens on AC and DC power. And it's also booting a lot slower now. By about 10 seconds. I can't think of any reason why it would start doing this. I haven't changed anything other than my display server init hack i'm trying to work out, but after it doesn't work, I put the old init back just as it was.

I'm lost ... I've never witnessed this, an I'm not even sure where to begin looking! Anyone else ever seen this?
Sorry

I have also witnessed this. I was running 2.0b7 w/ hijack v84 on my mk2a (restore DC/car visual - disabled). First the timecode changed from elapsed/total to only showing elapsed, and my VolAdjust setting changed from Med to Off. I only noticed it because I found myself changing the volume between songs and realized I shouldn't have to do that. Another time it switched to a previous playlist. I have also had it switch to different info modes - I usually have the bottom button toggle between track and transient, but a few times it has switched to track/line or track/seek.
Most of these occured when going from DC to AC power and vice-versa. However, the elapsed/voladjust quirk happened when re-powering with DC in my car after being off for three hours.
Last night I upgraded to Hijack v110, but I haven't moved it around between AC/DC enough to know if it's "fixed".

You are describing a loss of the user settings in the player's Flash RAM. You would probably also note that the Loudness and Dimmer settings are hosed, as well.
I have had this happen on my Mk2 player twice. It has been discussed among the alpha team. It is not certain if it is a player bug, or if it is due to a something in Mark's kernel that I was running at the time-- Mark said there was something which might have caused it but he wasn't sure. The latest build of the kernel has corrected the thing he suspected, but since the flash-loss was very rare and intermittent for me, I have no idea if it corrected it or not.

Hmm.. Today I put my player in my car after upgrading to hijack v112 and it wont keep the visual settings. I bring it in my home and they resume fine. I checked to make sure the setting to keep settings in DC mode was set in Hijack and it is.
Any ideas?

I also just noticed that when i have a visual on (in my home) and the text info set to Line before it would scroll once and now It just continues to scroll.. My empeg is taking on a mind of its own ; )... this is really strange... I still haven't figured out why it wont keeps its setting in the car.

Ya'all are describing minor annoyances. My problem is pretty huge. The fact that it doesn't retain ANY of my settings. Like I said, it won't even remember what song I was playing or what playlist I was on. It's like the thing was totally reset.
And boot time is very slow. It sits there "Loading Palylist" for about 5 seconds, and "Loading Visuals" for about 6-7 seconds. Total boot time is up to 20 seconds now. Before it was 6 seconds tops.
Oh, and as an added little mind bender, my other settings are being retained. Visuals, info styles, all those settings are retained just fine.
And as I just noticed, loading of playlists has slowed down considerably. I now get an hourglass while I'm loading a playlist. Loading a playlist with 3 songs now takes about 5 seconds. Loading 12 songs now takes anywhere between 5 and 7 seconds. This used to be instantaneous.

What disk size have you got? What is your current usage %? And which version of the player & emplode are you running?

I've got a 20GB disk. My Disk usage is about 10% (2GB). I'm using 2.0b7 dev kernel with Hijack 113 and Display Server 2.0 running on my RioCar MK2a.
I had this setup running like this for about 2 days before it slowed down and lost it's playlist memory.

Well thank you Mark. It's all your fault :~) The new Hijack 114 solved all my problems. I'll forvige you this time, but don't let it happen again :~)

I don't know what you mean, everything looks fine at my end. What are you seeing? Have you tried a different browser?

I've been using Opera recently. All of your posts that I see over the last few days have started being displayed as one-word-per-line "vertical' postings. Admittedly I haven't checked under Netscape (so it could be some aspect of Opera's operation), but you are the only person on the BBS showing this weirdness - everyone else has stayed the same.
Has it got something to do with you being a moderator these days?

That's odd, does it happen on every single post by me, or just the recent ones where my name is in red? (Look up some old posts by me if you can.)
Does it happen on PaulH's posts (his name is also in red)?
See if you can send me a screen shot of it happening (with some of the preceding table if possible) and maybe a saved-to-disk copy of the raw HTML as it came into your browser.
I think that it's got to be a new UBBThreads bug with rendering in Opera, something to do with tables, but we can't be sure until we look at it more closely.

Just experienced it tonight. Slapped my brand new RioCar in the dash and had no volume, VolAdj reset to Off, Dimmer and Loudness settings hosed, # of plays on each track gone... What gives? Has this been added to the internal bug list?

Me too, running 2.0b7 on a 10 gigger, no hijack (yet), about 3-4 gigs of space filled. Lose my vis/iinfo settings when I start it back up. Also had it spontaneously reboot once. This is not a horrible problem, but it's annoying :P
