Right, as Loren said, there is a wiring problem with your Mk2 sled. The Mk2 has actually not been working correctly this entire time, it has been limping along, not doing the right stuff with the ignition on/off. You never knew any better because you didn't know what it's supposed to be doing in these cases.
You need to make sure that the sled's ignition-switched wire turns on and off with the car's ignition, and that its permanent 12-volt wire is really getting a steady 12 volts all the time. There might be a blown fuse on one or both of these wires, so check everything carefully.
(Edit: I did not mean to reply to Rtundo for this, I meant to reply to Amold. I am assuming that Amold is using a Mk2 sled with a Rio Car. If Amold is trying to use a Mk1 sled, I'm surprised he can even get it to plug in.)
