I just got back from the installers - mounted the Empeg, new power amp and new MD Quart component speakers - very sweet. Ohhhh Maaaaaaaaannn is this thing nice. It was the talk of the showroom. Tuner is great too... Thanks to all on this board who got me going in the right direction.

Let me ask one question (there's always a question...)
Is there a way to randomize play on the entire playlist? So far I seem to be only able to randomize on a sub folder (genre in this case). Just curious. Thanks.

You can randomize play on everything you have on the player by pressing the "down" button three times in succession....providing that you have "shuffle" turned on...

Turn on "shuffle" by pressing the 0 key on the remote control. The screen should respond with either "shuffle on" or "shuffle off" depending on whether it was already activated.

The, press the "menu/ok" button on the remote control three times.

Now all of your playlists are playing shuffled.

(You can also do all of the above from the player's main menus with the front panel).

Tony - you da man - I'll try it out soon. Also have a question on the tuner. It seems to automatically seek the strong stations - kind of what I used to understand as "local" mode. When it does this it goes by a ton of reasonably strong stations, and only lands on what seems to be the three or four strongest. Any way to manually tune the tuna? Should I be reading a manual or the FAQ for this stuff (but then I'd miss you guys...)

Read the FAQ... it's a ton of info, but well worth it.

If you're having reception problems with the tuner, check out the "Troubleshooting" section of the FAQ.

Grrr.. Why are there so many posts telling us to use the buttons? I HATE wireless(infrared) remote controls in a car... I am glad HiJack was written - at least it gives the unit controls on the face a lot more functionality..

I second that, especially when the pioneer remote is as bad as it is. I can live with my remote for my Clarion headunit, but hardly use it. I've given up on the empeg one, long before the empeg got in my car (6 days ago)
