Okay, Hijack v196 is out. The only visible change (to some) is that [ir_translate] now works for KnobLeft and KnobRight. I had noticed in other threads that some people were trying to use these, and they have never really been used or tested before, so.. now they work.

Cheers

Wow...works great now. Now if one of my passengers reflexively twists that knob to change the volume, they'll just adjust the info or the visual. The reason I didn't want to use PopUp0 to switch visuals was that it required a minimum of two knob presses; even though the PopUp's position is persistent, I'd still have to push the knob once to bring up "Visual+" and a second time to change the visual. I think I'll just stay away from Knob= lines in the config.ini from now on.

Do you get any sleep?

Mark,

Any chance of having a config.ini option for the KnobLeft and KnobRight translations to apply only at the top level and revert to their normal mode for Hijack and PopUp menus?

This would salvage the knob twist functions for routine use for those of us that run with fixed volume setting, without affecting all of the nice things we can do with Hijack!

Okay, Hijack v197 is out.

  • Separate Stream and Play buttons in playlists.

  • khttpd request headers can now be split across TCP packets.

  • improved(?) error handling in socket I/O for low memory.

  • some changes to the HTTP filesystem browser screens

  • other internal stuff that hopefully doesn't break too much

    Cheers

Some of the guys at work listen to my player over the network but I listen to it normally (plugged into my soundcard). The HTML playlist generation in Hijack is fantastic, but now that we have both 'Stream' & 'Play on the Empeg' available on the pages dished up by Hijack this means that the other guys on the network can influence what I'm listening to. This was one of the negatives (for me that is) with Displayserver 2. Is there any way we can turn off the generation of the links so that they can't change what I'm listening to? I haven't tried v197 yet so please forgive me if you've included this feature already.

    Thanks.

    Good point.

I'll wire up a v198 shortly, with support for:

    [hijack]
    khttpd_play=0

On second thought, NO. See next post

    Actually, I won't do this.

Instead, I'll put out a v198, in which the existing "khttpd_commands=0" option will also disable the "Play" buttons.

Update Never mind, it already does this.

    See, simple solution!

Wow, the stream/play links in Hijack 197 are great. Very impressive.

Now I'm wondering if the same page can have links at the top for remote controlling the player (Next, Prev, Shuffle, standby, etc.).

The first thing I did after installing 197 was go to this screen and hit "play" to have the player play my entire playlist. Of course, the player was in standby mode and didn't wake up when I hit that link. So the first thing I wished for was a button on that screen that would wake up the player.

After I exerted all that effort to reach two feet across the desk and wake up the player, then I wished for the ability to turn shuffle on and off, and hit next/prev track...

    Hello Mark

I found a little bug! If I enter http://my.empeg.ip/?playlists it goes to http://10.0.1.10/drive0/fids/101?.htm/

The last slash is to much character for my IE 6.0....Or do I have to report this little bug to Billy?

    thanks.....

The way IE6 adds the last slash really really irks me. It managed to mess up a whole bunch of things I had bookmarked. Grr.

(I think that's an IE bug which Mark might not be able to do anything about.)

Okay, v197 is a little too restrictive in security (don't ask..), so v198 will be out shortly.

Also new in v198: the playlist browser hides links that are not permitted (eg. "Tags" not permitted with "khttpd_files=0").

This upgrade is recommended for anyone who got caught with v197 during its brief existence.

    Cheers

Please grab v198 now (bugfix from v197).

As for the extra buttons on top of the screen, I'll leave that to any one of the various HTML remote display/button thingies that are kicking around here already.

    Cheers

That's one for billg to worry about. I might someday waste a little codespace with an extra three lines to strip it off, though.

    Hmmm... I couldn't get the

    [hijack]
    khttpd_play=0

to work for me in v197.With v198 my player won't boot up properly. Goes into sleep mode and I'm unable to wake it up. I also noticed that v198 was much quicker to load into the player (I'm using serial btw). Going back to v196 works ok. I've also noticed that the forward slash is only appended with v197, not v196. Confused? I am .

edit Disregard the bit about the forward slash. It is appended in v196 as well. Strangely though it shows the page ok with v196 but not v197.

Read above posts... "khttpd_play" never got implemented (khttpd_commands already provides that feature).

Try again with v198.. works here. Sometimes the Empeg just needs a good swift kick (power off/on) after a kernel upgrade.

If v198 was much quicker to download over serial, then perhaps you got a truncated (partial) copy. Download it again from the website.

Tried that and it made no difference.

I must admit I was a bit confused (easily done ) by your two posts.

Yeah, that was it. It was only about 160k. All booted up ok but it's giving me an HTTP 403 Error - Forbidden now.

I've got to get some sleep now. It's 01:16 and I get up at 06:40 for work so I'll go back to v196 for now.

    Nighty night.
