I am the proud new owner of a 30 gig Empeg... God damn this thing is badass. Problem is, i can't get my ethernet to work. I'm running XP, and i just won't recognize it. I'm connecting it directly to my ethernet card using a crossover cable (i know its the right one). And even when i use USB in XP, if i have emplode up for to long, once i go to synchronize, it just sits there saying "initializing". It sucks cause i'll have everything organized and it'll just not work. Anyone got help?

Do you fire up emplode via serial first and configure ethernet? Did you install emplode first before plugging the empeg in? What version player software are you using? What version of emplode are you using?

If you are running 1.0x software, you'll need to configure Ethernet first - see the online help in emplode for a short guide.

If you are running 2.0beta software on your player, it has support for UPnP, as does XP. You should just be able to plug it in with an Ethernet cable and it should work. Note that we don't recommend using beta software for large uploads.
