Does anyone else in the Detroit area have a tuner module for their empeg? I have been using mine for 2 weeks now and no matter what I try 89X will not display the RDS song information. It works fine on my factory head unit as well as the WRIF and WCSX. Any ideas what my problem could be? Thanks in advance

I don't use a tuner... I only know of two other Detroit area empeg owners period - and one of them is my brother-in-law that I bought a RioCar for. User "Ineedcolor" is from Windsor (where 89X broadcasts from) but I'm not sure if he has a tuner or not...

Sorry, I can't help, but I figured I'd take a chance to say hi. Where are you from?

Just a wild stab in the dark, but you wouldn't happen to be having this problem, would you?

I don't have a tuner but I just wanted to shout out to my D-town brethren.
Any of you guys have a red or amber face that I could test out to see if it's worth buying one?

Hey there...

I don't have a tuner. I always hated listening to radio in the car, too many station breaks and commercials for my taste....
Now if I could only get streaming technology into the car without shelling out a monthly fee...

I had a red lens but found it to be too orange...I got rid of it some time ago, I alternate between my blue and my smoke lens now.

I'm in downtown Windsor but still looking for a new job

Hey, maybe we could have a mini-meet (read:some beers!) next summer and check out each others's rides, Brad, I would love to see your WRX up close...

I live in Royal Oak and work in Troy, so I'm not really a Detroit player, I just pretend by going to greektown once in awhile or watching the wings at the joe. If the red is actually somewhat orange, it may be just right in my pontiac grand prix. I didn't like the blue so I made a clear one out of anti-glare clear plastic from home depot. Now if I could only find a supplier of colored plastic with anti-glare coating...

I actually live in East Lansing right now but commute to Southfield once a week for work, theres no place in a college town where you can make $23 an hour, except one, but they dont let the guys dance on stage :P Anyways, I'm originally from Grosse Pointe but I'm moving to Troy this summer after I graduate.

This whole problem is really wierd since everything else seems to come in fine, the signal power is great and picks up really well but I just can't get the RDS for 89X which is really annoying since they are one of the better stations in the area and they put what songs on next before they start the commercials so I know when to go back to the empeg.

I have a red faceplace if you want to borrow it, I'm not using it right now but planning on changing my dash color this summer, as I said before I'll be down in Southfield on thursday if you want to meet and I can give it to you.

Since you already have the antiglare coated plastic from HD, you could try lighting gels that are used in theaters and music venues. These are very thin plastic or cellulose filters that come in a bewildering array of colors - they are usually used in front of rather bright lights, so you probably want to start with the lighter shades! Once you have found the shade you want, just tack it to the back of your plastic with some suitable glue. The quantity you'll need is negligable so it shouldn't cost much at all.

Try your yellow pages for suppliers. ("theatrical equipment and suppliers" works in mine)

Thanks for the info guys. I don't think I'll be trying the "rainbow" effect since the sizeable gay population in my area really likes rainbows. Oh and they like taking it up the tailpipe too.

did you get my PM reply?
I live in Niles and work in South Bend, so I didn't really consider myself "Detroit Area"
I do have Red and Amber though....
I think I could try and make it to Detroit for a mini-meet, that would be cool...

Hey, I am from Chicago and have been in the detroit area lately with my tuner and it will rarely pick up any stations with RDS. The ones I did get were like easy listening and news stations. I partied at mitches and ricks on fat tuesday in ann arbor, college girls...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Let me make peace.

My family is very much a UofM family. I will root for the Wolverines whenever I get a chance (I didn't go there, I went to Western, but Maise and Blue looks better).

But despite that, when I want to party surrounded by little hotties, I go to East Lansing. Err... when I USED to do that. Married now, so I can only cherrish memories. hehe
