I have been stricken with the "starting audio..." lockup. every now and then (and almost every time I switch to AUX-IN), the player will crash, and when it reboots it crashes again on "starting audio..." and takes a lot of restarts to get it back.

I saw a couple other threads about this, but they all kind of died...

I emailed support, and they said to downgrade to 1.03 and try it, and hey, that fixed it, but now I don't get all the features of 2.0b11...

I don't think support will fix it unless it happens under 1.03.

I suspect it may have something to do with polling the aux-in to render visuals...I tried turning off visuals but no help...what else can I do!!

I had this same problem when I was switching from the player to the tuner. If the time showed "12:00", then switching to tuner would lock it up, although Hijack seemed to work. It would take up to 10-15 restarts to get the player to work. I assumed it was a clock issue since the time would reset overnight, but the clock resetting may just be a symptom of a different problem.

I could not get it to lockup using the AC adapter. My problem only happened in the car. My spare player does not show this problem in the same sleeve. Also, I switched tuners just in case it was a bad tuner, but this did not solve the lockups.

I sent the player in to support to fix the clock. Support could not find a problem with my clock, but they swapped empegs anyway. Hopefully when I get it back the lockups go away, otherwise I can't use the tuner.

My Rio was doing that and I ended up going back to 1.03 no Hijack then I put on the dev 2.00b11 and the latest Hijack then the problem was gone, but I edited my config.ini so I can't go into aux mode (I don't use aux mode).

[ir_translate]
20DF03.L=Top.L,null ;Long press goto standby
20DF03.T=Player ;If in tuner change to main
20DF03.M=Top.L,null ;If in main goto standby

The code (20DF03) is for the Rio remote source botton.
Hope this helps.

My Rio started doing this, and I had to send it back. Look at your RIo when starting up and see if your get an error:

empeg display initialised.
empeg dsp audio initialised
empeg dsp mixer initialised
empeg dsp initialised
Could not find CS4231A (version=80)
empeg remote control/panel button initialised.
empeg usb initialised, PDIUSBD12 id 1012
empeg state support initialised 0089/88c1 (save to d0004600).
empeg RDS driver initialised
empeg power-pic driver initialised (first boot)

as you can see my player couldn't find the Aux-In chip. Needless to say, it's now actually a different player.
