Windows 2000 Pro
Empeg MkII 6Gb
LogoEdit V1.4
Consumer Image V2.00 Beta 11
Emplode V2.00 Beta 11
V226.hijack.v200b11.mk2.zimage

I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to "playing" with my empeg, but I couldn't resist trying to install the Hijack Kernal.

I've upgraded my empeg image to V2 beta 11 successfully, downloaded LogoEdit V1.4, when when I try to upload the kernal I get the following message.

Product=88c1
Starting erase (failed to get echo-back on erase command
erasepage (10000) got code 1.

This happens just after it says that its rebooting the player.

I don't have a linux machine or know linux.

Usually this indicates a problem with the serial port. Check the cabling and the serial port's configuration settings. Make sure you're not running another piece of software (such as a palm or serial-over-IR software) that might claim a serial port or its interrupt.

Can you run a regular ".upgrade" against the player? If that doesn't work, a kernel flash won't work, either. Upgrade instructions are in the FAQ.

Also check the FAQ entry on Hypterterminal and see if you can get hyperterminal to work with the player. If you can't get that working, then the serial flash won't work.

Thats the same problem I initially had on my machine. I managed to work around it by downloading Bonzi's version of download and installing the required libraries to use it. If you search the forum for your error message, I think you will find the program I am refering to. I just flashed mine from a command prompt and didn't try integrating it with Tony's LogoEditor.

I'll try to dig around some a little later this afternoon and try to find the post for you.

Once you get HiJack installed, you can use AutoHijack to keep it current. Pretty painless once you get it installed.

I will post the modified version of download program KungFuCow is talking about (together with supporting Cygwin dll) somewhere shortly. I have played with it a bit (not very much, I admit), but didn't figure out why would delay introduced with debugging output help, so I wasn't able to help Tony make his editor upload from our machines, too.

OK, butchered version of download.exe and cygwin1.dll needed to run it on non-cygwin Windoze are on http://kinojaca.org/bonzi/download.zip (some 330k).

Good luck!
