Thanks to the hard work of Mark Lord and Mike Schrag, we can now add custom boot-up animations to our beloeved Empeg using JEmplode. See this thread for details. I'm imagining a section will appear on RioCar.org for these animations, but until then, I figured we could start a thread here for posting them. I threw together a couple for my use and I figured I'd share them. They are both basically straight conversions of animated GIFs I stole off the net.

This one's for Ford Mustang drivers.

Look carefully at the Mustang picture. It's not actually spinning at all. It's just being compressed, flipped and expanded. Yeah, a little effect to cut corners. Just what like Ford does when building cars. Rim-shot!

I hope you have a day job to fall back on in case your career as a comedian doesn't pan out.

One thing I've noticed that seems like a good idea to do is to make the _logo_ the last frame of the bootup animation, because the logo sits there for a bit while its actually booting, otherwise you'll kinda have a delay between the boot and the animation.

Here is an Alfa Romeo bootup animation I created for my 3 weeks old Mk2a ;-)

I would also like to say hi to the members of this great forum.
Your posts helped me decide on buying this excellent piece of audio hardware.

"Look carefully at the Mustang picture. It's not actually spinning at all. It's just being compressed, flipped and expanded..."

Actually, if you look closely, you can see that it's NOT just being compressed and expanded. The perspective is correct for it being being flipped, as are the shadows. They simply don't do a "backside" animation.

Heh. Just thought I had to take Tony's job of pointing out incorrectness. Wait, here's a better impression of Tony...

"The answer is in the FAQ and can be found here..."

Hehe. Of course, I'm just kidding. Tony does a great job here just for the sake of his (our) hobby.

There's no vertical expansion or compression. So the perspective is far from being correct. We used to do more correct rotations in small C=64 demos 15 years ago. Notice neither the head, nor the tail, ever get bigger. Therefore neither are ever coming to the foreground. Therefore it's not spinning. It "nearly" looks like they're going into the background, but to have both ends do it at once is obviously not correct.

So, like another thread mentioned, maybe the FAQer just got FAQed.

Doh, you're right, my bad.

I was looking at the Ford logo. This is what I get for thinking faster than I read.

Let me make a suggestion... Put it up as an animated gif or PNG so it can be previewed in the thread... I want to see a lot of these but it's not convenient to hook up the empeg (when it's not already) and upload.
