i'm having trouble getting emplode to recognize my player in 98. I have 98 and XP running on my system, but USB won't work in XP, so i'd have to use ethernet w/ a crossover cable. This works fine, except sometimes, the way i organize my collection, i need to have internet access.
In 98, i can't get the drivers for the player. The system recognizes it, but it can't find the drivers. Are they on the disc? In device manager, it just shows up as unknown device. What do i do?

You need to install the relevant version of emplode first. Once you've done this, the drivers should be in the correct place so that they're installed automatically when you plug the player into the USB port.
