Is it me, or does Verizon suck ass? First of all, their cell phone service is horid. Everyone i know, and everyone i've talked to hates it. I used to work at the Good Guys and people would switch over left and right.

Secondly, I have Verizon DSL and i think i'm switching next week. The stupid thing is down waaaay too much.

Third, talk about horrible customer service. I thought Sprint PCS was bad, but Verizon is wretched. Its like they pick the ghettoest, most impatient and unfriendly people they can find.

Don't touch Cingular, either. Everybody I know hates them. Even the cellphone sales people hate them. I have AT&T Wireless and haven't had a problem so far. The salesman was telling me one of the Cingular salesmen came over and got service through AT&T. Hah!

Not to be facetious, but is there any cell or DSL provider that people do not hate? I don’t own a cell phone, but have been thinking of getting one. I ask my friends what provider they use and their answer is always, “Oh, I use provider X, but I hate them! Don’t use them!”

Are there any cell providers that are not universally reviled?

i haven't had a problem with Cingular at all. Their website sorta sucks for paying bills...at least that's what Kelly tells me, but so far i've been happy with them. Everyone has different experiences i guess.

I have Voicestream, and it works really good. I would recommend getting a GSM carrier such as Voicestream and Cingular, and ATT just started using GSM too. I have a Sony Ericsson T68i. It's a world phone that can be used in all countries. If you travel a lot, you really want to consider GSM.

As for High Speed Internet Access, I ordered Verizon DSL, and I really wasn't satisfied with it when I compared to a nearby neighbors Cable connection, so after 3 months, I called Verizon and had it disconnected. I still got the free webcam. I had to wait for a prepaid return mailer to return the DSL modem, but noticed I stilled had service. When I finally got the prepaid mailer, I sent the modem back. For fun, I borrowed a neighbor's dsl modem and hooked it up to my line, and guess what? STILL HAVE DSL SERVICE! I went on ebay, and found a DSL modem for $40, and I'm still going strong since last July. It's not as fast as I want it to be, but as long as I'm saving my $50 monthly payment, I can't complain.

I second your opinion. Verizon's cell service is tops in NY.

I've always been happy with AT&T. I've used them since they were Celluar One around here(california). Their reception has been far better than any of my friends who have cell phones. Of the people I know, Verizon people are happy with their service, and Cingular people hate it with a passion.

Last summer I was working at a rather interesting spot, and had my boss throw his cingular cell phone through a window, and then picked it up and broke it in half. This was after missing over 10 calls in one morning.

I havn't found a cell phone company that doesn't cheat on the bills, which is really dispicable. I've had problems with my AT&T bill where free minutes stop being used, and they start charging you per minute rates... I had the same experience when I took it upon myself to go over the office cell phone bills last summer and change calling plans for employees. Read your cell phone bill anytime it's higher than your plan cost.

What I've noticed is that you really need to ask people in your local area their opinions on cell service. For example, Cingular is widely hated in California (or at least in So Cal), but my brother says he loves it up in Seattle. I guess they have better coverage up there.

The main complaint I heard about it here is that it's only digital, and doesn't have the option of switching to analog should it lose it's digital signal.
