Rob, Hugo, etc...

I was just wondeing if you have heard anything new with regards to the component you are attempting to chase down. Is it still backordered, pushing the units ETA back? Do you guys have any (conservative) estimate on when you're going to be shipping off the first batch?

Thanks! I love the new faceplate, looks wonderful!

The situation is this:

We have 50 of them, and another 950 are turning up before the end of the month, when analog devices do another fab run.

So - mostly cool :)

I hope the delay doesnt cause some penalty to be incurred by the company that is assembling them for you. :-(

Sounds like they will do a limited run of 50, and hold off until they have 950 of the chips to do the remaining run. It'll give some lead time into fixing any potential problems, and begin the first shipment of say 30 or 40 players to the beta.. err customers. This production run will probably be the "funky button" run that was mentioned. If the run completed today or tommorow maybe in a couple of days there will be an email going out to solicit orders, and shipments going out next monday.

This is all conjecture. ;)

I think they may be paying for the time on the production line whether they are using it or not.

Whats the exact make and model of the cellular component that's been stealing your parts and me and Mr. Hammer will supply my own missing part...

Seeing as it's the people who own the production line who had assured us all the parts were accounted for... I suspect we don't get charged. The matter is in their hands, they've got a lot of experience in sourcing components. I have faith (really!)

I think they're scheduling jobs around us at the moment, but we get priority on the line when everything is ready... which should be today/tomorrow at the latest.

They had another chip go MIA, though they've now build the first bath of 70 of the units (to check the process) with one chip and two connectors missing (which should turn up tomorrow). I'm down there tomorrow, hopefully I can get some pics :)

...they're waterproof too? You haven't got an order to fit them in Royal Navy submarines, have you???

Ahhhhh! This is killing me! (and a few other people, I'm sure). Oh well, I guess this doesn't mean alot to me anyway, considering I'm still not getting mine till the end of the summer.

I would definitely have to agree - especially since not only am I number 11 in the queue, I was hoping to have it installed in the car by the time I go on vacation at the end of the month. And considering I'm not a very patient person to begin with - I'm ready to go nuts!
