I am trying to find some software that will help me organize my digital pictures.
I want something like the empeg playlist model for image files. i.e. 1 file multiple references.

It would also be nice to have some archiving ability, i.e. CDROM with some kind of indication which files need archiving, where files were archived, etc....

And the ability to create a web version of albums that could be ftp'd to a web server.

All this in ONE package, I know there are a few packages out their like ACDsee that are great for viewing and have plug-ins for creating web pages etc...

Any suggestions?

For webpages you can use Express Thumbnail Creator from www.express-soft.com

But about an all-in-one software I don't know!

bye

You might want to have a look at CompuPic Pro, I've been using it for a few years and they just keep adding great features. Covers everything you listed.

Cool software I like the HTML album options and the cdrom creation.
No batch resize though, most of my pics are 1600 x 1200, too big for the web.
Is there album support?
I just looked at ACDSee 4.0 and it has most of the stuff I want but No cd creation software.
Most of these apps are viewing oriented not management oriented.

Well, for batch resize (as I've asked this question before on this board) is done easily with Irfanview (dont' have the link at the moment). But I don't think it does everything you want there. not sure, I only use it for resize.

I don't think it will do multi-reference "playlists" such as you describe, but I've used ThumbsPlus under Windows for a long time and enjoy it. Equivalent to IrfanView, I'm told. Here's a link to a demo download.

There is actually (only in the Pro version, there is a feature comparison here), select the photo's you want to resize and press Alt-A for "Advanced Batch Conversions," and the first check box has settings for Resize,Crop, and Borders.

Is there album support?

Not exactly. You can add keywords to photo's, create indexes, and PhotoCD's, but there is no actual "Album" feature.

For album creation/management with features like voice annotation, and asset information Canto Cumulus 5.x is pretty nice. However, it is not as feature rich as CompuPic Pro. I'd say together they make one hellava media content management system.

The only other one I can think that might be worth looking at is ThumbsPlus, although I believe it is similar to CompuPic Pro with not as many features (and still no album management like Cumulus).

Um, it was already mentioned twice. once in the original post...

Does it really do all the things he wants? I don't know, but it wasn't that great when I tried it out. Could just be me, though.

Thanks for the tip!

I tried express thumbs creator wich did a good job.

I am just surprized that there is such a gap in the digital photo market!
