I just got home from the second northern California Empeg meet. What a great time. My thanks to Tony Fabris for organizing it (grin). We had a lot of amazing cars show up.
I'm sure pictures will be coming soon from those that took some. Hope to do it again soon!

Should happen more often with the concentration of empeg owners in The Bay Area.
I shouldn't have gotten there so late, but still, it was something to do. It was nice to see the people from the first meet, and meet the new ones.

Great to meet the new folk and see the old. It was a bit more low key than last year (probably because the stars of the show, Rob and Hugo, couldn't make it.) But, i got to sit in a DeLoreon, Viper, and a Ferrari, so it was all good.
I put up the few pics i took at RioCar. I can make a gallery for anyone else who wants to upload, just let me know. Check them out here.

Argh! How many times do I have to say... I didn't organize it!!
If I had, there would have been official stuff like a trivia quiz and an install competition. We didn't get to either of those things this time.

I must say I was a bit dissapointed in the whole meet. Organization? There was none. It was great seeing everyone and checking out the installs but I worked my butt off to get ready for the competition and there was none. Oh well.

I thought the meet was good. Worth the trip for me. Meeting people in person that you converse with through the BBS is priceless. If I had to make the trip again, I would. I'll probably be there next year as well.

Yeah, sorry about that Rob. I agree that someone should have done some organization. No one stepped up to assume the mantle like last year. I would have done so, except: a) I lived hundreds of miles away, and b) I was in the middle of participating in a convention that weekend and didn't have time to organize it.
The only "organized" part was supposed to be an RTA demo, but somehow the software didn't get onto Tom's laptop in time, and when it finally did, it didn't work. I apologize for that.
I will say, Rob, that the stereo install sounded fantastic. That was one insane system you had there. Can you give more details about that baffle board in front of the subwoofer?

Hey, Jon, we were wondering where you were!
The question was asked: Did you ever find work, and are you doing OK now?

Hi there.
I started working for a company called NetScreen Technologies almost exactly a year ago. I am the "Manager of Professional Services" here. It's been a fun and intense year, as I have been building a start-up group in a start-up company. Not an easy thing to do...
I've been around on this board on and off, but have found it tough to keep up with. Miss a day, and you start to get lost!
Sorry I missed the meet... I would have loved to come. I'll try and plan the next one...

Wow, Tony's camera had me so distracted that I didn't notice you taking pictures at the table .
I also apologize for the RTA demo failing, I had cleaned up my desktop before the meet, and had deleted the files. Then once I finally got them (thanks dionysus), it wasn't letting me use a dial up connection to license the software for the 30 day demo. Biggest problem with that demo though is that almost no laptop screens show up well outside, so it's hard to say how well it would have gone even with working software.
Overall, I agree, fun to see people again, but the lack of organization killed it. By the time I had tried to do a few things, the meet was quickly approaching, and I had no way of setting things up ahead of time. For me being several states away, there was always the possibility that I wouldn't make it.
I'll post my photos up in the gallery as well once my camera battery is charged. If anyone else has photos and a RioCar.org username, I'll give them permission to the gallery.

Can I just send you my photos and you can add them to your gallery?
I don't really have the time or the energy at the moment to upload, catalog and comment all the pics...

Rob, nice photos! Thanks for posting them.
Was great to meet you, and I still can't get over the fact you flew out from the East Coast just for our meet!! Hope you slept well, and had a good journey home.
Cheers,
Richard

I was the clueless Empeg Owner Wannabe at the meet.
I want to say thank you to everyone at the Northern California Meet.
Especially Dionysus, tfabris, CruzThs, jloew, rscorer, and all others
who tolerated my newbie questions and indoctrinated me in the Empeg cult.
I am now the proud owner and operator of a shiny new Mk2a.
These things are awesome!
I've read (and re-read) the FAQ, gotten myself Hijacked and Betafied,
can sling the lingo about Magic Marker Mods and Wendy Flags,
and put a hundred CDs or so on one of my all-time favorite toys.
...and I'm only using it at home so far.
Now I just need to get a new car and install it.
Anybody have a spare Delorean or Ferrari they can loan me?
Hmmm, and maybe I have a few more purchases in the offing. Perhaps a
DarkStorm smoke lens, some illuminated buttons, a carry bag, a tuner
kit, a spare empeg, and a drive upgrade. But then I'm absolutely
stopping. Well maybe a 802.11b wireless. But then I'm done for
sure. Well, except maybe for a custom fascia and....
See what you've done!
Thanks again!
