I would like to get some cd rom burning software.

I would like no so called easy interfaces with dancing paper clips or any other bloody gimmicks

Abilty to make recovery cds for the computer would be nice.

will copy almost any cd

relable and easy to use.

Does anyone know of any favorites.

Nero is the winner for me. No dancing paperclips like Adaptec.

If you want to make a perfect copy of any cd, you want CloneCD.

I second that. Nero and CloneCD are the way to go, and I'd recommend getting Clony XXL. It will help with selecting the correct settings in CloneCD for making a good 1:1 copy.

Greetings!

My personal favorite is CDRWIN from GoldenHawk. It can do your basic ISO CDs, including all the long filename stuff, bootable disks, etc. It is also very powerful for music handling, including capabilities for mixed mode and CD Extra disks, negative track times, pre-mastering and manufacturing codes. Copies at the CD, track and sector levels.

I agree with the Nero. I tried installing Adaptec and it took me about and hour and a half to get back into windows. It seems that although they say that 5 works with Win2K, beleeeeeive me, it didn't (they might have had a fix for it though). Nero has been great though. No problems at all.

Add me to the list of Nero and CloneCD supporters. They can do almost everything you may need.

One caveat regardless of what you do: do NOT install two different CD burning packages at the same time on one machine. This can cause Very Bad Things on Windows machines.

That being said, you'll love Nero if you like a powerful & non-gimmicky interface.

Are sure that that is a problem anymore? They all say they won't interefere with other burner software nowadays, and I have three in my computer right now with no problems.

Of course, I only ever actually use Nero. CDRWin comes in handy every now and then, and the EZ CD Creator that came with this burner sits there and takes up HD space.

Seconded.
I actually run Nero, Cdrwin and Clone CD on one PC. No problems whatsoever.
I agree, in the old days having multiple burning programs on one PC could end up giving you a big headache, but I don't believe this is still an issue nowadays.

Yeah, me too. Two separate versions of Nero along with Ez CD Creator have co-existed peacefully on my '98 box for a long time.
