The old US/English variances are fun enough, but I only recently realized that the same is true of other languages as well.
A French friend once told me that his countrymen laugh at french-canadians use of french. Also Mexican spanish is rather different to Spain spanish. I believe that the Mexican word for icecream is the Spanish word for "lard" or "fat", hmmm tasty.

I reckon it is something to do with the language crossing the atlantic.
