Yeah, I googled the SDCFXPS-128G and found a page that actually listed tech specs, and it says 3.3V there. Dunno if it is also supposed to tolerate 5V, but it sounds like it prefers 3.3V. So if you can change the internal "jumper" of the dual-CF adapter, it should be fine going forward.

Here's a description of the voltage needs from another site I found (http://www.centon.com/support/123-compact-flash-faq):
Quote:
Compact Flash cards support both 3.3V and 5V operation and can be interchanged between 3.3V and 5V systems. This means that any CF card can operate at either voltage. Other small form factor flash cards may be available to operate at 3.3V or 5V, but any single card can operate at only one of the voltages.

Rather strange wording there, but it sounds as if 3.3V should work. But then so also should 5V.

EDIT: I also found this page: http://www.vcfed.org/forum/archive/index.php/t-46142.html which suggests that 5V is the correct jumper setting for use in the empeg/RioCar. So probably not the issue here.
