I usually have no problems with ethernet, except when it just randomly disconnects. I read the FAQ and most of those problems are for first-time installations. I can stream music via Hijack and it will shut off and even during emplode sync's it will die. I can connect just fine but after a few modifications to the playlist I can't sync becuase the ethernet connection is gone.

The only way to make sure the empeg stays alive is if I have a dos window open and pinging the empeg's IP address.

Any ideas? Anyone else have this problem?

Sounds like it might be a faulty switch/hub? That's a rather strange way to make it work... Have you tried hooking it up with a crossover cable directly to your computer? (And a seccond computer if that doesn't fix the problem...)

It was a lame Linksys switch. I tried it at work with what my friend called a "proper" 3COM switch and everything was fine. Also I dont' remember having any problems while using a crossover.
