Beta has been working just fine until today when I finally set the time through the GUI.
The power was cycled and it hung with starting audio on the display.
I flashed it again with both the consumer and developer versions to no effect.

Here is the log on the serial port of the boot.
Incidentally, I've tried this with both the ethernet cable plugged in (office LAN with DHCP) and without the ethernet cable plugged in. This report showing without it plugged in.
It does obtain an IP address when it is plugged in to the LAN.

That isn't a complete log.. perhaps the last bit was not flushed to the logfile when you pasted?

from his bootlog: Could not find CS4231A

This is bad! It's AUX-IN.

No, that's all i was getting.
Last night I did get it working incidentally. It looked like the CPU was getting pegged because eventually I was able to get the keys on the front panel working for some reason but the GUI was very very slow...
The source was for some reason set to AUX of which i have nothing connected. I was able to navigate the GUI and switch the source back to player and then everything was fine. The player became operational and was runnning at normal speeds.
I'm wondering if this has something to do wth polling the AUX-IN for track identification and running the visuals. Since there was nothingm it choked.

Also, I'm finding that my clock does not keep the time set. It has defaulted back to 12:00 July "something" 2001 several times.

Does that mean that you think it's hardware?

Sorry for my very cryptic answer, I'll try not to do that anymore...

The fact that the bootlog shows the chip can't be found is a hardware related issue if you ask me. I recommend contacting support@empeg.com for sorting this out.

I haven't tried using AUX port for some time now. Probably a few months.
I can't see the need for it in the forseable future and as long as I keep it in player mode it works.
Other than the fact that it'd be great to keep it in tip-top shape, do you think it's a necessary repair? I'll have to check if I'm inside the terms of my warranty. I added a second hard drive so they may void it.
The player is working fine now, just only when in player mode.

You might have read about the problem I had concerning AUX-IN a while ago. The cause for this problem wasn't entirely related to the chip (CS 4231A). So other things might have had some influence. I'm not telling you that you must have your unit repaired, but I just recommend having it repaired if it's still in warranty, which is one year from the date of purchase. Basically: if I was you, I would have it repaired!

I'm still waiting to receive the wiring loom from support so I can get my tuner working. I've had it for some time now and I have never seen it work yet.
I wouldn't mind having some confirmation from someone at empeg who frequents the BBS that this would be the correct action considering the facts I've presented. I don't want to bring up another issue until the first one is resolved, especially if they're just going to tell me that I'm out of warranty or something.

Sending my whole unit and tuner in is what support recommended when I emailed them about my tuner not working. Thanks to Q/A on the BBS, I didn't have to, they just sent me a new loom. Now, it just has to get to me.
