OK, photo #1 is a nice, normal-looking computer screen, ready to select whichever window I want to work with.

Photo #2 is what the screen looked like when I moved the cursor. I was mistaken before when I said moving the cursor out of the window caused this, actually the cursor needs to move to the upper left corner to make this happen. And it just frustrates the hell out of me.

On a different subject... the two colorful vertical lines in photo #2 are always present. This means something irreparable has died in her monitor, right?
